If you cannot add your Rust server to GS4u, check its query port — the port used to retrieve server information. In Rust, this is separate from the game port that players connect to. Adding 1 to the game port does not give the right value for every setup.
Which ports to enter on GS4u
Select Rust in the server submission form and enter the server’s public IP address or hostname. Use the port values from your server settings:
- Port — the game port,
server.port. - Query port — the information query port,
server.queryport.
Check these values in your hosting control panel or ask your administrator. If server.queryport is set explicitly, use that value.
How Rust chooses the default query port
According to the Facepunch documentation, when server.queryport is not set explicitly, Rust adds 1 to whichever is higher: server.port or rcon.port.
For example, with server.port = 28015 and rcon.port = 28016, the default query port is 28017. In this example, enter 28015 as the game port and 28017 as the query port on GS4u. These numbers illustrate the calculation; use your own server’s settings.
If the ports are correct but the error persists
Rust’s game and query ports must be reachable over UDP and must not use the same port number. Being able to join the game does not prove that the query port is responding to the monitoring service.
Check whether the query port is reachable and whether your hosting provider is blocking requests. For the steps to follow, our monitoring IP addresses and what to include when contacting support, see our guide to fixing server submission problems on GS4u.
