If GS4u cannot retrieve your server’s details when you try to add it, start by checking the game, address and ports. Then check whether the server is reachable and whether your hosting provider is blocking queries. Follow the steps below and use the monitoring IP addresses when contacting support.

1. Check the details in the submission form

  • Game. Select the game your server is running. Counter-Strike 2 and Counter-Strike: Source, for example, are separate options.
  • IP/Host. Enter the game server’s public IP address or hostname from your server settings or hosting control panel. Do not enter a webpage URL or your computer’s local IP address.
  • Port. Enter the game port that players use to connect. Check your server settings, as it may differ from the default.
  • Query port. If this field appears for your game, it is for the port used to retrieve server information. This may differ from the game port. The form lets you leave it blank if you do not know it. If adding the server fails, check the query port in your hosting control panel or ask your provider rather than guessing.

The help section for errors when adding a server includes guides for individual games. Check any example ports against your own server settings.

2. Check that the server and query port are reachable

Make sure the server is running and has finished loading. Try joining it from the game over the internet. Connecting from the same local network does not prove that it is reachable from outside that network. If the server is behind a router, check that the required ports are forwarded to it.

Players may be able to join even when the query port is unreachable. Ask your administrator or hosting provider to check that the server responds to information queries and that the firewall and hosting security rules allow them through.

Access rules need to match the port and protocol — UDP or TCP — required by the game. The same port number being used for TCP and UDP is not, by itself, a conflict. If the server log reports that a port is already in use, check which service is using that address and port with the same protocol. You do not need to disable the entire firewall to add a server to GS4u.

3. Give your hosting provider the GS4u IP addresses

GS4u sends server queries from these IP addresses:

  • 45.91.101.223
  • 89.58.57.251
  • 2.58.54.111
  • 159.195.25.161

Ask your provider to check whether queries from these addresses to your server’s query port, or the replies, are being blocked. If they are, work with your provider to allow access on the required port and protocol.

4. If you still cannot add the server

Try again after correcting the details or settings. If the error persists, contact GS4u support and include:

  • the game, public IP address or hostname, game port and query port, if known;
  • the exact error message and the time of your attempt, including the time zone;
  • whether you can join the server from the game over the internet;
  • what you have already checked and your hosting provider’s response.

Do not send server, RCON or hosting control panel passwords.
